Awbury/Cliveden

The Awbury/Cliveden Model Neighborhood project is a program for neighborhood beautification, environmental education, and community inspiration that centers on clean water issues. Through designing signs and maps, offering tours and workshops, and holding meetings with residents about their ideas for neighborhood improvement, the TTF Watershed Partnership is building on the momentum of current stormwater management projects in the area in order to help beautify the neighborhood, and foster environmental stewardship. Because of TTF’s work in the Awbury/Cliveden neighborhood over the past two years, the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) has chosen the Awbury/Cliveden neighborhood as one of their first three project sites in its Green City, Clean Waters Program.

Current projects in the Awbury/Cliveden Model Neighborhood include:

Location
The area bordered by Cliveden St., Stenton Ave., Chelten Ave. and Musgrave St. is the center of the Awbury/Cliveden Model Neighborhood. This area already hosts numerous demonstration projects that restore natural stormwater management systems. These include a wildflower meadow, a restored wetland, a porous concrete sidewalk, rain gardens, and other stormwater management techniques. Get Involved!

Every single neighborhood resident stands to benefit from this community-wide effort, and everyone can participate! With your input, the Awbury/Cliveden “Model Neighborhood” has the potential to gain local, or even national, recognition for community leadership, and social, economic and environmental benefits to the community.

Here are some ways you can get involved:

  • Mailing List: Send us your contact information and we’ll send you information on upcoming Model Neighborhood events and meetings.
  • Questionnaire: Fill out a questionnaire [.pdf] and share your thoughts about your neighborhood.
  • Focus Group: Join a focus group and be a part of the “Model Neighborhood” planning.
  • Attend an event in the Awbury/Cliveden Model Neighborhood.
