This past Saturday, TTF had the chance to attend the 11th Annual Pennsylvania Coast Day at Penn’s Landing. The perfect weather made it the perfect day to learn about Pennsylvania’s Coast.
Organizational participants included Philadelphia Water Department, Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, WHYY, Independence Seaport Museum and Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center, to just name a few. The venue was lined with educational booths teaching Coast Day-ers, young and old, about the importance of clean water and how we can make a difference. Enthusiastic Coast Day participants spoke about rain barrels, stormwater runoff, ways we can keep our water clean and the impact clean water has on us and our water dwelling friends, like fresh water mussels and oysters.

Interactive demonstrations, like Independence Seaport Museum’s water robot, and craft activities, like Partnership for the Delaware Estuary’s ‘Fish Puppet Theater’, engaged young children and made Coast Day not only a great learning experience, but also a fun day for all.
