Yesterday, we hosted our third annual Community Service Breakfast. We think it was the best breakfast ever! Our guests networked, enjoyed a delicious, healthy breakfast from Whole Foods Market Jenkintown, and learned about both TTF and green watershed initiatives here in Philadelphia.
The program featured the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), our partners on the EPA funded Urban Waters grant program. Barley Van Clief of PHS provided a program overview of this Green Stormwater Infrastructure job skills and community training program. Urban Waters demonstrates how we can protect water and strengthen our communities at the same time!
Our guests included representatives from O’Brien & Gere, Merck, Penn State Abington, Philadelphia Water Department, Friends of Overington Park, and more. TTF’s Julie Slavet and Alix Howard talked about our mission, as well as our Watershed Heroes program, mussel surveying and storm drain marking efforts, and upcoming events for 2014!
