It was all about WATER at the Naval Support Activity Philadelphia on November 19!

First, we hosted a Lunch & Learn to kick off a day filled with watershed activities! We presented our Watershed Heroes lesson, led storm drain marking, and were joined by partner and Environmental Educator Dottie Baumgarten, who led an Enviroscape watershed activity to the children at the Child Development Center on site.

Our Watershed Heroes Program provides information about your watershed, the issues that affect our streams, what Philadelphia is doing to improve our drinking water, and what YOU can do to make a difference! We were joined by 20 enthusiastic civilians, sailors and commanding officers, who expressed an interest in participating in future events, as well sharing other ways to engage and educate our community about our water.

We ended the watershed day by marking stormdrains along facility’s main sidewalks. This will help create awareness that our storm drains are connected to our creeks, and prevent littering and pollutants from entering our waterways.

We want thank our wonderful host, Marian Sumner, PA Community Plans and Liaison Officer, for making this day possible. We look forward to working together to keep our watershed healthy.
