It was a beautiful day for a cleanup at Tacony Creek Park!
This year, for the 8th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup, TTF partnered with PowerCorps PHL and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) to get Tacony Creek Park ready for our 3rd Healthy Trails 5k.
We were joined by the PowerCorps “Nature Chasers” crew and community members including a block captain and runner, and together we removed bags worth of trash from the Rorer Street gateway to the Whitaker Street Gateway! This trash would have ended up in our creek, washed down by wind and rain water.
We ended the day with pizza for our hardworking volunteers, joined by some enthusiastic neighborhood children playing at the Lauretha Vaird Boys and Girls Club who pitched in to pick up trash around the playing field.
Thank you to the Philadelphia Streets Department for organizing this effort to bring communities together to keep our city clean. And a special thanks to our volunteers, PPR and PowerCorps PHL. Thank you all for Keeping up the Sweep Up!
