Please join TTF and Cheltenham Township to announce the Jenkintown Creek Restoration Project at the Charles D. Conklin, Jr. Pool and Recreation Area, and to learn about how neighbors can work with us to improve our creeks.
This exciting project will improve the water quality in this branch of the Jenkintown Creek and enhance this community site. Part of the concrete channel will be removed and the creek will be directed into a wetland. The project will: convert an area of turf grass to meadow, create a walking trail for residents within the property, and manage 42 acres of stormwater runoff pollution.
Since 2014, TTF and partners have installed 7 green stormwater features; planted along 1,500 linear feet of waterways, and restored wetlands. TTF is part of the Upstream Suburban Philadelphia Collaborative of the Delaware River Watershed Initiative (DRWI), a clean water collaborative funded by the William Penn Foundation. It’s the most ambitious effort of its kind in the region’s history, aligning 65 organizations working across four states.
This project is made possible with a Montco 2040 grant from the Montgomery County Planning Commission and a Delaware River Restoration Fund grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the William Penn Foundation.
