Last fall, a 235-foot concrete channel was removed to allow a Jenkintown Creek tributary flow through a newly restored wetland. This project helped reduce the amount of polluted runoff in the creek, which manages 42 acres of the upstream area!
Join us Friday, October 2nd or Saturday, October 3rd from 9AM – 1:30PM to help plant the banks of this newly restored tributary that runs through the Charles D. Conklin Jr. Pool and Recreation Center. This small, socially distanced and family-friendly planting is available to sign up for 1, 2, or even three 1.5 hour slots each day. Volunteers must pre-register and space is limited to 12 volunteers per slot. We will cancel in the event of rain with raindates scheduled for October 9 & 10.
Sign up for your time slot HERE by filling out a form for each person attending. Please select a time so we can keep track of the number of participants.
We expect volunteers to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines by staying 6 feet apart or further. Please stay home if you are feeling ill or have been in close proximity to a person who is sick, or has become sick in the past 2 weeks. If you are an older adult, or have a chronic medical illness that makes you more susceptible to COVID-19, please stay home. TTF will provide tools and gloves and will have masks, hand sanitizer, water, and snacks for volunteers if needed. We recommend that volunteers wear hats, closed-toe shoes, and comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that can get dirty.
