Stewardship

What is Stewardship?

Stewardship is a long word that simply means taking care of something. We think stewardship is so important that it’s part of our mission…to take care the watershed in which we live and work.

Environmental stewardship is taking care of the earth, the responsible use and protection of the natural environment through conservation and sustainable practices. Indigenous people have always practiced this type of stewardship. Aldo Leopold, considered by many to be the father of wildlife ecology and our nation’s wilderness system. Among his best-known ideas is the “land ethic,” which calls for an ethical, caring relationship between people and nature.
