Last week, TTF, in partnership with the Cheltenham EAC, hosted “Your Watershed is Your Home: An Introduction to Watersheds & Stormwater Management Tools” at the Glenside Library. Those who attended learned the basic workings of a watershed and ways in which they, as watershed residents, can manage stormwater.
Workshop participants were shown how to install and maintain their own rain barrel, and how to utilize the collected rain barrel water.

Along with learning about watersheds and rain barrels, participants also learned about how restoring streambanks plays an important role in improving water quality in the Tookany Creek. David McVeigh-Schultz, Abington Cheltenham EAC Chairman, spoke about how recent flooding demonstrates the detrimental impact of stormwater runoff. Riparian buffers and native plant gardening were presented as solutions to managing stormwater runoff and improving the vitality of the Creek.
TTF is thankful for the great turnout, prepared speakers including guest speaker David McVeigh Schultz and Glenside Library for hosting the event. We are planning many more great educational events in Cheltenham!
