Daffodils in December at Vernon Park

Earlier this month, more than 10 volunteers gathered at Vernon Park for a Friends of Vernon Park (FOVP) work day. The FOVP group holds monthly work days to involve community members  in park maintenance activities. December’s work day involved planting daffodil bulbs (donated by TTF) before the first frost, raking leaves, mending protective tree fencing, and planting donated trees and shrubs.

Volunteers were able to get all the bulbs, trees and shrubs planted. After planting, raking leaves and repairing tree fences, the park is ready for the winter — and will have lovely flowers popping up in the spring! Thanks to all our volunteers and parkgoers who pitched in!

TTF works with Friends of Vernon Park on collaborative projects like the rain garden in front of Center in the Park. For more information on our rain garden collaboration, visit TTF’s rain garden page.
