Mayor Thanks TTF for Trees!

Hey, is that Mayor Nutter with TTF Education & Outreach Director Alix Howard at Marconi Park?

It sure is! Alix was accepting a certificate from His Honor on behalf of TTF for helping the City’s tree planting push reach the 100,000 tree milestone!

TTF loves trees for lots of reasons — but mostly because trees absorb stormwater runoff! We plant trees and support Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Tree Tenders across our watershed. Our biggest tree effort to date has been to survey over 7000 properties for planting locations in West Oak Lane as part of the TreePhilly program of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR).

The result of this TTF led volunteer effort? Four hundred new trees in West Oak Lane!

Interested in planting trees on your property? Take advantage of PPR’s TreePhilly Fall 2013 Yard Tree Program!

Help make Philly a City of Arborly Love by requesting a free yard tree through the Fall 2013 Yard Tree Program.

Individual property owners can request up to 2 free yard trees and religious or community organizations can request up to 10 free yard trees. Also this fall, for the first time, PPR will have a limited number of fruit trees!

Register between now and October 31st, and pick up your tree at one of the four events in November (11/9, 11/10, 11/16 or 11/17).  You must pre-register to be eligible for a fruit tree, but tree choice is first-come, first served, you cannot pre-register for a specific type of tree. Register for your free tree here!
