This past weekend, TTF joined forces with Keep Philadelphia Beautiful, Greenbelt Overhaul Alliance of Levittown (GOAL), Philadelphia Water Department (PWD), Pennsylvania Environmental Council   (PEC), Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR), Great American Cleanup Pennsylvania, and DEP’s PA Coastal Zone Management Program to conduct a waterway cleanup at an illegal dumping hot spot at Hunting Park and O Streets in Juniata.
Juniata Waterway CleanupThanks to the hard work of thirty volunteers, dozens of bags of trash, sofas, mattresses and an ASTOUNDING 814 tires were recovered and removed. Volunteers included TTF interns and their mothers, TTF Board member Susan Myerov of PEC, members of GOAL,  Powercorps PHL crew members, and  folks from The Kintock Group.

Juniata Waterway Cleanup

We see this cleanup effort as a first step in preparing for a Frankford Creek Greenway to be installed along this waterway, providing a path for pedestrians and cyclists to the creek. Transforming this littered area into green recreational space will provide creek and park access to neighborhood residents.
