We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful morning or enthusiastic crowd for our 4th annual Healthy Trails 5k in Tacony Creek Park! Joined by over 150 runners, walkers and volunteers, we were thrilled with the turnout and are incredibly thankful to all involved.

Just like last year, we received positive feedback about the course, which started on the beautiful Friends Hospital Campus, ran down along the Scattergood Trail, then crossed the Fisher’s Lane Bridge into the heart of Tacony Creek Park.

Most of the comments this year expressed appreciation for our amazing cheering team. Over 50 volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God joined us before the race to clean and prepare the trail. Not only that, they came prepared with banners and hand-made posters with words of encouragement to all of our participants! Spread out along the course and waiting at the finish line, they brought energy and enthusiasm, giving all of our runners an extra boost of motivation with their cheering and singing.

We’d like to thank World Mission Church for their commitment to cleaning up the park and supporting our event. At the end of the race, they surprised us with a very generous donation (a giant check!) for which we are tremendously appreciative. All proceeds from the race support our efforts in Tacony Creek Park!

We’d like to thank all of our sponsors and volunteers, incredible race director Jim Marino and other Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Water Department staff, The Circuit Trails network, hosts Friends Hospital and the Scattergood Foundation, warm up leader Daisy Rosa and the Latinas in Motion volunteers.

Of course, we couldn’t have this event if it wasn’t for all of the runners and walkers who joined us on race day! Many of you generously made additional donations along with registrations. Thank you…we hope that you enjoyed Tacony Creek Park and will visit again. Your continued support helps us care for our creek and keep the park safe and inviting for our watershed community.

Thank you all so much. We look forward to seeing you next year!

What’s that? Can’t wait until next year for another fun 5k along the same Tacony Creek Park course? Mark your calendar for the 2nd Annual Latinas in Motion Peace Love & Run 5k on June 11! See you there!
