We celebrated President’s Day our favorite way– by going on a bird walk in Tacony Creek Park! It was the last day to participate in the National Audubon Society’s Great Backyard Bird Count, an annual citizen science project celebrated around the world. Leading our walk that morning was Leigh Altadonna, President of the Wyncote Audubon Society.
During our bird walk, we spotted 25 species of birds! Here’s a list of what we saw:
- 85 Canada Goose
- 12 Mallard
- 27 Common Merganser (uncommon on Tacony Creek park walks. They were flying high overhead, probably headed towards the Delaware River)
- 1 Cooper’s Hawk
