Nothing says “summer” more than being out in the park enjoying pretzels and water ice among friends! Thanks for celebrating the start of summer with us at our 6th Annual Summer Block Parties in Tacony Creek Park, June 19 – 22!
For three days in a row, we “Celebrated the Park! and Discovered the Creek!” in Juniata, Feltonville and Olney with bird walks led by Audubon PA and Wyncote Audubon Society, bike rides on the trail with the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, and free bicycle tune-ups with Neighborhood Bike Works. We learned about our watershed with lessons from TTF’s Creekmobile and the Philadelphia Water Department, as well as fun aquatic creatures like mussels from the Fairmount Water Works, and horseshoe crabs and sea stars with the Center for Aquatic Sciences at Adventure Aquarium.
We even debuted a new water ice flavor – “Cocochata” – created by Little Baby’s Ice Cream in partnership with PlanPhilly and Bartram’s Garden.
We celebrated new trail connections, such as the new Tacony Creek Park trail section underneath the Roosevelt Boulevard and the Frankford Creek Greenway with The CircuitEast Coast GreenwayRiverfront North and Clean Air Council.

A special thank you to the Philadelphia Police Mounted Unit – we really enjoyed meeting the officers and spending time with the horses: “Gary” and “Cuz”.

Last but not least, a big thank you to our volunteers for helping make this event a true success: James, Julia, Akayla, and Carlos; TTF Board members Ken, Sue, Maria, AeLin, Donna, Joanne, Lissette, and Marilyn; and photographer Ed Maldonado.

And, thank you for joining us. You helped make these events special and memorable!
Be sure to check out the photos of the event.
We look forward to seeing you again in Tacony Creek Park!
