Connecting with Tacony Creek Park neighbors…by phone

Now more than ever, we understand how important it is to reach out and connect with neighbors.

Since we are unable to gather in groups for programming, the TTF Philadelphia Team has been staying in touch with our watershed community by making phone calls to neighbors who live near Tacony Creek Park. We’re prioritizing those who don’t have email, making sure they’re getting updates about Covid-19 from the City and providing links and phone numbers for resources. We’re also letting neighbors know about food distribution sites and services and reminding people to fill out their US Census forms — reminders that people say they’ve been grateful to get!

We’re also trying to maintain a presence in the park, while of course practicing social distancing and wearing  masks. We hope to see you on the trail soon.

We reached out to 50 people in the past month, and have spoken with 30 individuals. One neighbor, who is a healthcare provider, expressed appreciation for our team checking in during this unpredictable, stressful time.

Many of the people we have spoken with have requested our free purple coneflower seed packets to plant, nature-themed coloring pages for their children to enjoy, and clean-up kits with trash bags and gloves to help keep the park trail and community free of litter.

This young neighbor was really excited to get to work on her wildlife coloring pages!

We look forward to staying in touch with you!

If we haven’t connected yet, let us know if you would like to receive a cleanup kit, seed packets or coloring pages by emailing info@ttfwatershed.org.

And if you’ve received any of these items, please share a photo with us by emailing or tagging us @TTFWatershed on Social Media.
