By Emmett Deitcher, Intern, TTF Watershed Partnership

My name is Emmett and I am so excited to be interning with the TTF Watershed Partnership for the summer. Outside my studies in Politics and History at Bates College, I have a deep interest in sustainability and environmentalism; and I’m the co-president of our college’s Environmental Justice Club. As someone who grew up exercising and exploring the Tookany Creek, I have a sentimental attachment to its tranquil embrace.

During my internship, I will be promoting the ongoing Tookany Creek Trail feasibility study, which would expand and improve the trail into a 3.4-mile circuit trail for walkers, runners, and bicyclists to enjoy. These trails gave me so much catharsis as a young runner and I want to expand these outdoor resources for the next generation. I will be reaching out to small businesses, religious congregations, and community members in order to gather feedback for the trail expansion and improvement project. I am looking forward to these conversations, which will help strengthen our community relationships that are so essential to TTF Watershed Partnership’s mission. I want to thank everyone at TTF for welcoming me to the team!
