I am grateful for the opportunity provided to me by Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership and Wyncote Audubon.
I will leave for Audubon’s Educators Week at Hog Island, Sunday, July 16. It’s the first time I’ll be in Maine, traveling on a plane and an Amtrak train by myself. Excited and scared simultaneously, I hope I don’t get too lost during my travels.
A lot of my work is focused on community, from teaching others how to forage and take care of plants to helping build a food forest to feed a neighborhood.
I want to continue to improve my teaching skills. A big goal of mine is to keep community members engaged and entertained.
I expect that Educators Week will give me some tools, methods, and discussions to upgrade my teaching abilities.
Another thing I’m looking forward to is meeting new people who share my interests.
I’m also excited to visit the island. There are so many birds and plants that I cannot wait to observe. It would also be nice to be surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean.
Stay tuned for MyKyah’s next blog when she comes back from the Audubon camp in which she will share her thoughts about the trip, what she learned, and more!
