As my time with TTF comes to a close, I want to reflect on my time here. In the first blog post I did, where I introduced myself, I wrote that I was “really interested to learn more about how platforms like Instagram can be used to spread educational information, particularly information relevant to local communities”. Through projects such as taking pictures and designing posts for the “What in the Watershed is That?” series, I have definitely learned more about using Instagram as a communication tool.

One thing that I wasn’t expecting to learn so much about was branding. I had never worked with an organization that had any branding guides before, so there was a learning curve on that. I think getting this experience working with brand guides and Instagram post templates will be really useful for me moving forward, especially because I am interested in communicating scientific information in a way that is easily understood by people unfamiliar with the topic. I also think that using Excel to create graphs for the Salt Week Blog Post I helped with will also come in handy for the same reason.

In conclusion, I want to say thank you to the whole TTF team, and particularly Wendi, for supervising me this semester. I wish them all nothing but the best moving forward!

Editor’s Note (by TTF comms manager Wendi Wu):

It has been an absolute joy to work with Natasha. She brings a refreshing, uplifting energy—a breath of fresh air—to everything she takes on, infusing her work with both creativity and curiosity. Her love of nature and wonder for the world shine through—whether she’s interpreting data, conducting research, or crafting an engaging post for our “What in the Watershed is That?” series. Natasha has a unique talent for making science approachable and exciting, helping to broaden our reach and refresh the spirit of our team. We’re so grateful for her contributions to TTF and can’t wait to see where her skills, creativity, and passion will take her next!
