Hello! My name is Jo, I’m a local Pennsylvania resident, who grew up in Elkins Park, thirty minutes outside of Philadelphia.

I began my journey into Environmentalism after finishing my College degree in geology at Temple University. I did conservation work in the Midwest, doing trail work, tree marking, and desert restoration. I continued to do this work on the East Coast with the Student Conservation Association in Maine, where I worked on the Appalachian Trail as a Crew Lead.

Realizing my passion for the work, I decided to go back to school at Rutgers University for a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning with a specialization in the Environment and Design.

My interests cross over into the relationship of indigenous science to our local environments and the application of this knowledge to the environments that surround us.

I hope that by volunteering with the TTF, I get to learn more about the environmental history of Philadelphia and the surrounding area, as well as work with people who share my curiosity and excitement for our local ecosystems.  Additionally, I hope to get more experience working with my degree, working with green infrastructure, and using systems like ArcGIS, Autocad, and Rhino.
