Stewardship season is in full swing at Tacony Creek Park, and May brought new energy, fresh plantings, and continued restoration work across the watershed.
Love Your Park Tree Planting at Adams Avenue Gateway
At the Adams Avenue Gateway, volunteers joined TTF for a Love Your Park service day focused on planting native trees and caring for one of the park’s important entrances.
With shovels in hand and knees on the ground, volunteers helped add new greenery that will support wildlife habitat, improve stormwater absorption, and create a more welcoming space for neighbors entering Tacony Creek Park.
The Adams Avenue Gateway also recently welcomed the Snake Road Block Party, making these stewardship efforts especially impactful. Volunteer efforts helped bring even more life and celebration to the Snake Road Block Party, creating a greener, brighter space for neighbors to gather, connect, and enjoy Tacony Creek Park together.
A New Creek View Near Rorer Street
Further down the trail, TTF’s Director of LandCare, Drew Rinaldi Subits (AKA “Drewshed” ), continued restoration work just north of Rorer Street Gateway, opening up a new viewshed along the creek corridor.
By clearing invasive vegetation and overgrowth, the area is becoming safer, brighter, and more connected to the beauty of the creek and the bridge.
What was once an overgrown and hidden section of trail is now opening back up to sunlight, creek views, and improved sightlines for park users.
Get Involved
The work continues all season long! And every bag of trash removed, every invasive cut back, and every tree planted helps shape the future of the park.
